Buck Cochran (’82) envisioned a working farm where disabled residents and local volunteers could learn from each other as they plant, nurture and harvest food together. Peacehaven Community Farm in Whitsett, North Carolina, is a welcoming place where meaningful labor has led to personal growth and enduring friendships. Since Buck’s undergraduate days, Wake Forest’s Pro Humanitate motto has resonated with him, and his commitment to better the lives of others remained constant whether he was serving as a United States Navy officer or an ordained Presbyterian minister.

Buck Cochran received the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award.
